Personal experience of Cap Oniel Dhir

Hari Om,

I wish to narrate an incident which  recently happened. I remember the words of Sadguru Param Pujya Bapu in one of his discourses, that even if you are in the middle of the ocean,I will save you . How true these are.

Bapu is always by the side of his Shraddawans, which is very comforting in every tough situation. Recently you all know it very well, that Super Cyclone Tauktae created havoc , wherever it passed through. Near the eye of the storm ( about 50 kms diameter), the wind was gusting more than 200 km/ hr and wave height was about 30 feet.  Our ship , M.V Celestial which works for ONGC was operating in Mumbai High North field. All vessels try to avoid eye of the storm because the consequences can be devastating.

Our ship on 16th May night started moving Eastward towards the coast to be away from the storm at least 100 kms but the storm had picked up speed and wind speed increased tremendously to about  120 km/ hr and wind started blowing from easterly direction. Our ship which was doing a speed of 25 km / hr, could not move forward with all its power. In fact the ship was pushed in the Westerly direction at a speed of 10  km / hr. By 17th morning, the situation for our ship became very precarious.

The ship's Captain called up on 17th morning and said he is drifting towards the " Eye of the Storm". There was fear and remorse in his voice. We from office comforted him that we will contact ONGC  for external help and discussed options in terms how he should steer to get out of the storm  .
I contacted ONGC but they expressed their helplessness in such heavy weather for extending any outside support to pull out our ship . When this talk transpired, my heart sank. Being a Captain, I knew the impending danger with 17 people on the ship.

The storm was just 50 kms south of the ship and the Eye of the Storm" would pass over our ship in about 3 hrs, which would twist our ship into mangled remains. I shuddered to this thought and as I turned around, there was photo of Bapu,Aai and Dada in front of me. I prayed to Param Pujya Bapu that if anybody on this Earth can save our ship and it's 17 people, it's ONLY YOU.  Just for your information when storm is moving North , the right hand side of the path of the storm is dangerous area and left side is navigable safe area. Now as the ship was drifting westward, her drift speed increased to about 20 kms/ hr, which took our ship to left side of the storm's path. For next three hours,we were bracing ourselves for a news, we were not ready for.

Around 1600 hrs, we called our ship, he told us that the storm has passed on his right side and presently he was 20 kms south of the storm and he was moving away safely. They witnessed wind speeds gusting to 250 km/hr and faced themselves in the jaws of death. But the Captain informed us that there was some divine power which made them ride such Rough Seas with ease as if like a Flower on top of the Waves. Imagine Not a scratch to the ship and it's people. I bowed in front of Param Pujya Bapu, Aai and Dada for all their Love and Care.

I profusely chanted Ambadnya, Nath Samvid with tears in my eyes. Our Param Pujya Bapu always keeps his promise to his Shraddawans. All we need to do is to have firm faith in our Param Pujya Bapu and hold on to His Lotus Feet firmly. I also wish to share that we have Mothi Aai and Bapu's photo on our ship, constantly blessing our ship and it's people.

Jai Jagdambe Jai Durge.
